Core Avionics & Industrial Announces the Acquisition of OpenGL® Graphics Driver Intellectual Property for a Range of Graphics Processors for use in Safety Critical Real Time Systems

CoreAVI announces the purchase of all residual intellectual property assets of ALT Software through ALT Software’s bankruptcy proceedings in Canada, where ALT Software had been headquartered. This acquisition allows for support of legacy and future graphics systems based on these technologies and expands CoreAVI’s existing line of OpenGL Graphics Driver products, resulting in the broadest offering in the industry.

Tampa, Florida, September 25, 2015. Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (CoreAVI) announces the acquisition of OpenGL graphics driver libraries to support AMD Radeon™ M9, M54, E6760, Fujistu MB86298 ‘RUBY’, MB86297 ‘Carmine’ and MB86296 ‘CoralPA’ graphics processing units, FAA DO-178B / EASA ED-12B Level A certified packages and other associated graphics technologies. These driver suites include support for a wide range of operating systems, including DDCI Deos, Sysgo PikeOS, Wind River VxWorks 5.x, 6.x, safety cert, VxWorks MILS, VxWorks 653 and Linux.

The acquired intellectual property includes graphics driver products and certification data packages that have been certified by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and Transport Canada and are flying today in many of the world’s leading aircraft cockpit display systems. The purchase ensures customers have ongoing access to these technologies allowing them to undertake product refresh and enhancement programs. The acquisition of this software framework, combined with CoreAVI’s product suites, establishes CoreAVI as the clear leader in safety critical driver products with the greatest number of processor architectures supported and aircraft deployments in the industry.

“Acquisition of ALT’s intellectual property broadens the range of platform support we offer to our graphics customers in legacy and in new display systems,” stated Lee Melatti, President at CoreAVI. “This is part of the Channel One group of companies’ ongoing investment in research and development and, where possible, acquisition of technologies that can be used to enhance graphics display capabilities in our customer’s avionics, military, industrial and automotive applications.”

“Curtiss-Wright is pleased with CoreAVI’s acquisition of ALT Software’s intellectual property. CoreAVI is a highly respected company in the safety critical and embedded graphics market. This acquisition helps to protect Curtiss-Wright and our customers’ long term investments in these products” says Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions.
